Grace Episcopal Church in Alvin, Texas: Feeding Neighbors with Dignity and Compassion
At Grace Episcopal Church in Alvin, the food ministry is guided by a simple conviction: care for the community should always honor the dignity of each person.
Through a long-standing partnership with the Houston Food Bank, the ministry has shared more than three million pounds of food over the past four years. This support reaches working families, homebound seniors, parents facing difficult choices, and children who need reliable access to healthy meals.
Beyond the numbers, the ministry is sustained by people. Volunteers who return week after week. Seniors who know someone will check on them. Families who arrive needing assistance and leave feeling respected and welcomed.
The work goes beyond food distribution. Every Friday morning, Grace opens its doors to neighbors experiencing homelessness, offering a hot breakfast, clean clothing, and warm showers. These consistent acts of care provide comfort, stability, and dignity.
Through this ministry, Grace Episcopal Church meets real needs with compassion and presence, reminding neighbors across Alvin that they are seen, valued, and not alone.
